Questions Before 2007 Goes...

What did you do in 2007 that you've never done before?
Break up with someone.

Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t make resolutions, and even if I somehow do, I forget about them in a snap.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, not really. But I think someone close to me got knocked up.

Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year which I’m very thankful for.

What countries did you visit?
From the start of the year, my goal was to visit any Asian country. 365 days later, I never even got pass the airport security.

What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Own place (but it would take a miracle for that to happen)

What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can’t even the actual date of my break up so that’s not it. Hmm…first thing that comes to mind is December 21 which our company year end party. I’ve written my reflection about it, here. Now, I remembered something worth mentioning. September 26, 2007, the San Beda Red Lions won the NCAA Championship title for the second year in a row. Oh, yeah! Go San Beda Fight!

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Proving that I may be the youngest but I can lead people to the Promised Land. Well, maybe not that Promised, but still, I’m better than some of those people leading us. Ask my team.

What was your biggest failure?
I don’t consider failing this year, because when you fail, I feel that regrets comes naturally, which I never do. I never regret. It’s either I did or did not.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and needed oral surgery middle of this year. I was kind of sickly this year, which sucked big time as I used up most of my leaves for medical reasons.

What was the best thing you bought?
The only thing I bought this year is my Moto phone. But the best thing this year that I have is Mom’s laptop. Technically, it’s not mine but still, I’m the one who uses it regularly.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
OFFLINE 9 for taking the daggers very maturely and worth praising for.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? A friend, who I care for, for the longest time, still does. But just like that, I’m but a shadow to her and I’m clearly not someone who she thinks is for keeps. That was really depressing for me.

Where did most of your money go?
Food, clothes, coffee, gas money, bills, and food.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Photo sessions, dinners, parties, paloozas, with my colleagues-slash-friends. These moments defined 2007 for me. I never thought I’d have so much fun with them.

What song will always remind you of 2007?
“Because of You” by Ne-Yo

Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Slightly Happier!!
ii. thinner or fatter? By the start of the year I had stuffings, then bronchitis knocked on my door and now, I’m definitely thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? I’m sure I’m richer this year ‘round but not so much as to what people might think. Keem’s right, not just in a financial sense.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
More writing, blogs, sleep, and eat!

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Bad habits and not-good-for-you stuff. And I wish I went out more instead of lying around doing nothing. But that’s okay. I feel half-rested anyway.

How did you spend Christmas?
Alone and with family, as always.

Did you fall in love in 2007?
I fell out of love in 2007.

How many one-night stands?
I refuse to answer this question on grounds that it will affect my awesomeness. Fine, it’s zero. Hehehe.

What was your favorite TV program?

Toss between “Heroes,” “Prison Break,” “Lost,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “Gossip Girl.” Probably the answer would be “Gossip Girl” because out of the four, it’s the only one who premiered this year.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hmm…tough one. I guess there are some people that will not be getting Happy New Year greetings from me this time around but I really can’t name anyone. It’s not that I hate them, it’s just that there are some unavoidable circumstances that affected my communication with them. Gets?

What was the best book you read?
“Deathly Hallows” by Rowling. It’s the finale, so it deserves the top spot.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
I balanced my eclecticness to Rock and Hip Hop this year. I still love classic and that will never change.

What did you want and got?
Internet connection and laptop. Next is freedom.

What was your favorite film of this year?
“Transformers” probably. Or “At World’s End.” I’ll edit this once I think of my fave movie of 2007.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I invited lots of people but only a handful came. That’s all right. It was a small yet intimate gathering with my family and Mean Boys. Oh, it was my debut, by the way. I turned 21 in ’07.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
The same thing that I wish for every year but probably may take a long while to accomplish.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Black and white is elegant. Layers work when you’re in the outsourcing business. Stripes ruled 2007 but some people overdid it. New York wins, for me, this year’s most fashionable city.

What kept you sane?
Sleep and friends and movies/shows.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Megan Fox, but I still will someday marry Georgina Wilson.

What political issue stirred you the most?
Local: Manila Penn Mutiny. Idiots!
World: Gearing up for the U.S. Presidential Elections. Pitting talkshow hosts to do your bidding. Come on!

Whom did you miss? Mean Boys (my college friends).

Who was the best new person you met?
I don’t know. I’m sure there’s someone, but I just don’t know.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
Timee is doomed to live his life alone and single. He thinks he’s happier alone and without any commitments. Seriously, I realized that I can’t be tied down. I just can’t breathe.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
“I’m just a notch in your bed post but you’re just a line from a song.”

All in all, 2007 was a good year for me. It was one of those nicely balanced years, but the good parts slightly tip the balance scale. The best thing this year was of course turning my colleagues into lifelong friends. They made my 2007 worth remembering. Second thing, is breaking up. Well, I’m not really happy that I had to undergo this experience, but this is best for both of us. We both need to focus on our careers and its clear that we’re not walking down the same road. Third, my family, as always, got my back and supported me in my endeavors. Thanks a lot. As I wave good bye to 2007, I am thankful for the gods of time for making me experience this year. You guys did great. 2008 is just five hours away. Eight is my favorite number. Who knows, that may be a sign of a better and cooler year come 12 midnight. Happy New Year, hombres!
