Questions Before 2007 Goes...

What did you do in 2007 that you've never done before?
Break up with someone.

Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don’t make resolutions, and even if I somehow do, I forget about them in a snap.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, not really. But I think someone close to me got knocked up.

Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year which I’m very thankful for.

What countries did you visit?
From the start of the year, my goal was to visit any Asian country. 365 days later, I never even got pass the airport security.

What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Own place (but it would take a miracle for that to happen)

What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I can’t even the actual date of my break up so that’s not it. Hmm…first thing that comes to mind is December 21 which our company year end party. I’ve written my reflection about it, here. Now, I remembered something worth mentioning. September 26, 2007, the San Beda Red Lions won the NCAA Championship title for the second year in a row. Oh, yeah! Go San Beda Fight!

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Proving that I may be the youngest but I can lead people to the Promised Land. Well, maybe not that Promised, but still, I’m better than some of those people leading us. Ask my team.

What was your biggest failure?
I don’t consider failing this year, because when you fail, I feel that regrets comes naturally, which I never do. I never regret. It’s either I did or did not.

Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and needed oral surgery middle of this year. I was kind of sickly this year, which sucked big time as I used up most of my leaves for medical reasons.

What was the best thing you bought?
The only thing I bought this year is my Moto phone. But the best thing this year that I have is Mom’s laptop. Technically, it’s not mine but still, I’m the one who uses it regularly.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
OFFLINE 9 for taking the daggers very maturely and worth praising for.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? A friend, who I care for, for the longest time, still does. But just like that, I’m but a shadow to her and I’m clearly not someone who she thinks is for keeps. That was really depressing for me.

Where did most of your money go?
Food, clothes, coffee, gas money, bills, and food.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Photo sessions, dinners, parties, paloozas, with my colleagues-slash-friends. These moments defined 2007 for me. I never thought I’d have so much fun with them.

What song will always remind you of 2007?
“Because of You” by Ne-Yo

Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Slightly Happier!!
ii. thinner or fatter? By the start of the year I had stuffings, then bronchitis knocked on my door and now, I’m definitely thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? I’m sure I’m richer this year ‘round but not so much as to what people might think. Keem’s right, not just in a financial sense.

What do you wish you'd done more of?
More writing, blogs, sleep, and eat!

What do you wish you'd done less of?
Bad habits and not-good-for-you stuff. And I wish I went out more instead of lying around doing nothing. But that’s okay. I feel half-rested anyway.

How did you spend Christmas?
Alone and with family, as always.

Did you fall in love in 2007?
I fell out of love in 2007.

How many one-night stands?
I refuse to answer this question on grounds that it will affect my awesomeness. Fine, it’s zero. Hehehe.

What was your favorite TV program?

Toss between “Heroes,” “Prison Break,” “Lost,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “Gossip Girl.” Probably the answer would be “Gossip Girl” because out of the four, it’s the only one who premiered this year.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hmm…tough one. I guess there are some people that will not be getting Happy New Year greetings from me this time around but I really can’t name anyone. It’s not that I hate them, it’s just that there are some unavoidable circumstances that affected my communication with them. Gets?

What was the best book you read?
“Deathly Hallows” by Rowling. It’s the finale, so it deserves the top spot.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
I balanced my eclecticness to Rock and Hip Hop this year. I still love classic and that will never change.

What did you want and got?
Internet connection and laptop. Next is freedom.

What was your favorite film of this year?
“Transformers” probably. Or “At World’s End.” I’ll edit this once I think of my fave movie of 2007.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I invited lots of people but only a handful came. That’s all right. It was a small yet intimate gathering with my family and Mean Boys. Oh, it was my debut, by the way. I turned 21 in ’07.

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
The same thing that I wish for every year but probably may take a long while to accomplish.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Black and white is elegant. Layers work when you’re in the outsourcing business. Stripes ruled 2007 but some people overdid it. New York wins, for me, this year’s most fashionable city.

What kept you sane?
Sleep and friends and movies/shows.

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Megan Fox, but I still will someday marry Georgina Wilson.

What political issue stirred you the most?
Local: Manila Penn Mutiny. Idiots!
World: Gearing up for the U.S. Presidential Elections. Pitting talkshow hosts to do your bidding. Come on!

Whom did you miss? Mean Boys (my college friends).

Who was the best new person you met?
I don’t know. I’m sure there’s someone, but I just don’t know.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
Timee is doomed to live his life alone and single. He thinks he’s happier alone and without any commitments. Seriously, I realized that I can’t be tied down. I just can’t breathe.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
“I’m just a notch in your bed post but you’re just a line from a song.”

All in all, 2007 was a good year for me. It was one of those nicely balanced years, but the good parts slightly tip the balance scale. The best thing this year was of course turning my colleagues into lifelong friends. They made my 2007 worth remembering. Second thing, is breaking up. Well, I’m not really happy that I had to undergo this experience, but this is best for both of us. We both need to focus on our careers and its clear that we’re not walking down the same road. Third, my family, as always, got my back and supported me in my endeavors. Thanks a lot. As I wave good bye to 2007, I am thankful for the gods of time for making me experience this year. You guys did great. 2008 is just five hours away. Eight is my favorite number. Who knows, that may be a sign of a better and cooler year come 12 midnight. Happy New Year, hombres!

Impulse: The Year-End Party (--,)

“PARTY HARD!” It’s the two words that I kept uttering the whole night of December 21, 2007. And it was very fitting. The two words that best described the annual PS year end party, aptly named this year, “Impulse: The Year-End Party,” held at Folk Arts Theater in CCP Complex. I had so much fun that evening that that party makes it to my history books as one of the dopest ever. It’s one of those times that you get to dress up and get loose and unwind, forgetting about work and negativities per se. All the elements of successful partying were present: friends, colleagues, literally hundreds of images, great music, fashion, booze, (with the exception of food and venue) but the experience compensated for all of it. Oh, yeah.

I had to go to work that day as it is a Friday, so the partying starts the moment I pressed AD 24 – Headset. Upon hearing the clicking sound, time to partehy! Kads were unusually early that time and we waited for some of our friends who get off at 6:00. So what do we do while we wait for them? Photo ops, of course: in our lobby and by the parking lot in front of our office. (The vines on the railings make for a great Hampton’s-like background…Hehehe). So, together with Monette (who by the way looked very lovely in dress), Mackoie, Archee, and Odette, we’re off to Folk Arts Theater. The traffic was terrible that it took us an hour and a half to reach a supposedly 15 -minute distance travel. That just sucks which contributed to the one disappointment this whole evening, which you will find out later. When we arrived to the venue, there were no more parking slots available so we had to park all the way to Star City. It was already 8:45 when we found free slots and I quickly changed into my attire inside my car. This time, I’m suited all suited up for Impulse. It’s once a year, give this to me! Hehehe. We walked towards the theater and there were still long lines in registration. Upon claiming our stubs and tickets, it’s game time!

Finding out that there weren’t any seats and round tables left, we settled for cocktail tables in the middle of the theater. We got our food, it was disappointing, and was shockingly full after. We decided to join Met’s group so us, Offline, would be together, which makes it even funner! The flashes of my friends cameras were ridiculous and it didn’t stop for quite some time. As the night progresses and big raffles were awarded to some lucky yet quite controversial employees, we waited for the main attraction of the party: the bands. Playing that night were Up Dharma Down, Kyla with the PS Idols, Bamboo, Parokya Ni Edgar, and Kamikazee. From this year’s band lineup, it’s a no-brainer that the night will ROCK! They didn’t disappoint. Bamboo is a god as we all know, Parokya and Kamikazee were always a joy and laugh and entertaining to listen and watch, but I never did get to see the first two bands and singer as their sets were already done when we got to the event. We rocked and partied so hard and we still have the energy to take some more pictures.

The cherry-on-the-top of this event was the images and albums that my friends accomplished. My goal for that night was 500 images and it exceeded my expectations. And I was kinda popular with those pictures as some of them were taken with a good friend, which Carl turned into a controversy, but in a good way. Hihihi. For the ultimate photo experience, click their names and it will take you to their personal photo albums: Kads, Kibi, Met, Jacq, Gemma, Warren, and (--,). I would like to thank you all guys for taking time to immortalize that night. Keep rockin’!

The evening does not end when the lights went on at around 2:00 in the morning. We hooked up with some ET people and took some more pictures and we planned our very own T&C after party. Venue was decided and Providence, Taft was given the honors. So, we went there but Prov was packed with people that we had to wait for some rooms to be vacant. We decided to dine in first at Tapa King, as we were really, really hungry at that time. I was treated by batchmate/close friend, Arnee, to a heavy meal, which I’m very grateful for. The Tapa King setting was one of the best moments of that night for me. Here, transcriptionists and editors, from different LOBs are all together eating like a family. There were representatives from each team and it didn’t matter even if our account was crumbling; it matters that we are there for each other. Two rooms in Prov are cleared and that’s where we cue the Imperial March theme.

Disaster strikes as my trusty ol’ Timmobile decided she’s too tired from partying and won’t start. It’s 3:00 AM in the morning and my friends are belting their lungs out whilst I was waiting for the tow truck so I could go home. Thanks to Mackoie and Kads who stayed with me and tried to fix her up to no avail, (Kads for just staying there and taking a very embarrassing picture). The tow truck arrived at around 4:30 AM and I got home 5:30 already. Which gives me ample time to call in for work as I have a shift, by the way, that starts 8:00 AM that day. I never did go to work that day and later found out that we were swamped with files and that Christmas day time-off was canceled. But that’s another story.

Impulse was the fitting closing event of 2007 for me. I had so much fun and memories in that party. I also have lots of photos to remember and reminisce about it. Even if the night ended frustratingly, the experience itself proved to be too much fun that I the smile on my face lasted. Even if T&C is rapidly falling apart and people are being picked one by one like sitting ducks, this event made us all feel special. Christmas just got sweeter this year with Impulse. Here’s hoping to a good year for all of you, guys! Merry Christmas!!!

Globe UNLITXT: Dead

Those bastards! After making people pay extra for their “supposed to be” free SMS service about a year ago, now they’re putting their UNLITXT “promo” to a sudden stop. No news about it, just word of mouth and text jokes that were circulating greeting people advanced Merry Christmas because Globe’s axing their free service. I just confirmed it last night with Bes when she told me that she's no longer busy and has all the time in the world because she finally finished her thesis, and now, she’s a free girl. Unfortunately, texting might not be used as a means of communicating as Globe decided to be such jerks this Holiday season. She suggested Sun network since I also am subscribed to this network. But for Sun-users out there, the connection and lagging’s a real bitch.

People are already planning boycott of the Globe service. Well, Globe would like to see people try. For such a mogul like this network, with millions and millions of subscribers, you really think all those people will stop calling and texting using Globe? Filipinos nowadays cannot survive without their celfones and gadgets. They say it’s a fact that our country is the texting capital of the world. And I probably contributed to that title. Cool.

Ever since I started working though, I never really got to text that much since they don’t allow fones and gadgets inside our office floor. (Which was probably a factor for my singlehood..Hehehe) Incidentally, I switched to Globe because of the ex. I never purchased my Globe sim card. Instead, I borrowed a spare from Ralphy and never returned it, I think, for three years now.

Anyway, I don’t think I’m making any sense with this as I’m really, really sleepy. Just that UNLITXT’s been canceled to give way to a “better” promotion, which, I was told, includes services for other networks and lower price when using the network services. This bites. The only promo they decided to keep was that stupid daytime free texting and SULITXT, which if not for KC, I’ll probably describe with rude adjectives too. Good thing that I’m not a text-type-of-guy! I’d rather talk to the person through phone or face-to-face.

What’s next on the evil schemes of Globe? I don’t know. Hopefully, the subscribers end up the winners and those corporate bastards realize that not all people are subscribed to their plans and actually need free SMS service professionally and personally.

And I thought we were supposed to be “Malakas sa Globe…” Tssss…

Karaoke Night

I’ve known you for so long you are a friend of mine…”
All those vocal suppressions over the past few weeks were finally released. I was invited to Providence last Saturday night by Ronn’s group. Meaning, karaoke-type of gimmick; one of the best things to do anytime, anywhere. And, it served as a therapeutic outlet for all of our frustrations and disappointments from the recent crisis we went through. It’s been awhile since I went all American Idol-ish and gave cool renditions of my favorite songs. Good thing I still had it. (At least until Zelle sang and made our singing sound like nail scratching on chalkboards) Well, at least, somehow I do. No violent reactions whatsoever with my “golden voice.” Hehehe. If those guys let me downed more booze, they would’ve been blessed with my Taft-famous, “The Way You Look Tonight.” But that’s okay. It was fun seeing and more importantly, hearing, these friends of mine (there’s that damn line again) belt their lungs out: Nyce with her reggae renditions, Ronn with his boyband and Beatles covers, Zelle’s Nina Live, Shaila’s duets, Gem’s “erotic” singing/performance (tsk, tsk), and Boy’s Barry Manilow revivals. Wahahaha. And I think Boy was really into it, probably because he was “dedicating it to someone.”

The evening went well, if I may. Lots of laughs and songs and bottles of beer! Can’t imagine we finished all that without being tipsy, (at least I wasn’t). Ooh, but Shaila was, well, err, she was really, really “happy.” Hahaha. Like our motto for the evening: “What happens in Providence, stays in Providence.” After, I think, P400 worth of tokens (that’s 80 songs all in all), the evening didn’t stop there. We went back to the office for some late night/early morning coffee (thanks Gem) and more reflections.

I really had fun that night. I am really grateful that they absorbed me in their group. You see, I am friends with this guys but I haven’t really went with them on nights and gimmicks such as this. It depressing though that just when I finally knew what it felt like to hang with these guys, they had to be traded to another team. Sucks! But still, I don’t think that that’s it. There will be next times and more nightouts. I’m already excited just thinking about it. Hehehe.

Quit playing games with my heartwith my heart…”

Charley's Healed!

Drifting. A very dangerous kind of street racing. This blog is not about it. It’s one of my must-do’s though in the future. But the topic of my article involves cars. My car, “Charley,” particularly. Charley is a 1994 Toyota Corona that my Lola Tits (+) gave to me as a present before she passed away two years ago. The car’s broken it needed fixing. This morning I woke up very early as today is scheduled “fix-my-car” day. The last time I used the Batmobile was in October, that was until she turned on me and decided to die in the middle of Kalayaan road causing horrifying traffic and very rude greetings towards me. Anyway, me and Mom invested quite a lot now with Charley. As expected, she had lots of breakdown moments, probably because she already were previously owned by someone when Tits (+) bought it for me. But it don’t matter. I love her all the same. Back to the point of my story.

Since this time, the problem lies with the ignition, we really can’t bring the car anywhere. Good thing that my Ninong enrolled me with AAP (Automotive Association of the Philippines). They provide service for people who are experiencing auto-related problems. And, it’s free. So we called them up and requested for their towing service. I hoped that it would be one of those flat-bed types but the big, yellow ordinary tow truck did just fine. I’m bringing Charley to Howa, our mechanic. He’s been working on family and ancestral cars ever since forever. The only drawback is, I reside here in Paranaque whilst his auto shop is at Quezon City, hence, the towing. The trip was, well, bumpy and it felt weird as I was thinking that any moment the cables and support will give, making the car crash, or it’ll roll down when we’re going upward. But we managed to safely transport her without any scratches whatsoever. The diagnosis: ignition coil was really busted, the fiber-thingy was already broken, which is the root of all these not-starting. Three hours later and lots of fun conversations (and awkward personal questions about the ex because she lives a block away from the auto shop so they know her) with the mechanics, she’s alive and kickin’. Oh, yeah! Charley also needed an oil change as it’s already due, and we added Freon because the air conditioning is quite useless.

After all the mechanical things and more uncomfortable questions, she’s ready. To cut the story short, she’s healed and I’m feeling like King of the Road again. Oh, I passed by Bench Fix Hair Salon, Glorietta IV to have my haircut just in time for IMPULSE on Friday. Thanks, Mike. The car ran smoothly and well; I arrived home safe and in time for Day Two of “Simbang Gabi.” Cool. That’s all folks.

Misa de Gallo

Today, December 16, marks the beginning of a tradition here in the Philippines known as Misa de Gallo or more commonly known as “Simbang Gabi.” The tradition is carried out by Filipinos worldwide. Basically, it is a tradition where nine dawn masses are celebrated in nine consecutive days, the last day being the day before the Christ Child is born. The tradition goes way back into the Spanish era where it was believed that a nine-day dedication of attending mass at this early in the morning will test one’s faith and devotion to our Lord. Through the course of time, Filipinos believes that upon completion of the “Nine Mornings,” our Heavenly Father will grant them their deepest wishes.

This is why I think more and more Filipinos every year are gathering 4:30 AM in churches to attend to this tradition. More and more young people are getting into this whole “Simbang Gabi” fad. But, I truly hope that they’re doing that for all the right reasons; being, to celebrate the anticipation of the Lord’s Nativity.

Usually, after mass, Filipinos participate in yet another tradition of buying Philippine goodies outside the church for breakfast and consumption. Bibingka, Puto Bumbong, Hot Chocolates are just some of the delicacies that I await every single year.

I have never completed this tradition. I started trying two years ago, but four days into it, I just couldn’t muster up the strength to get up that early and join the festivities. Last year, I don’t think I even made it the first day. This year looks promising. Hehehe. First day was successful as I went through it just fine. I really, really hope that I can fulfill my obligation this year. And, if so happens that the Almighty will grant me my deepest wish, well, let’s just say that I’ve been wishing for that for quite some time now. Anyway, only eight days left before Christmas. So an advanced Merry Christmas to all. See you in the churches.

Nine Of Us...

After what seemed like an eternity, the nightmare is kind of over. But nine of us never awaken from that terrible experience. Nine of us spent their last day last Thursday. Nine of us will not be typing Calvary files any time soon. Nine of us won’t have to put up with two of the bitchiest bitches in the world. Nine of us whose fates are going to be up to them jerks from some First World country. Nine of us who took the dagger maturely and whole-heartedly. Nine of us who is making it hard for us, 20 retained people, to accept the fact that we’re letting go of colleagues. Nine teammates, but more importantly, nine comrades who made the Offline LOB, probably, the tightest (in a way) and harmonious team in T&C. Nine friends, more appropriately titled, nine friends, we will definitely miss.

To: Mackoie, Archee, Nyce, Ron, Met, Ronald, Jhen, Reyn, and Queen, Thanks so much for being a part of our daily lives. All of you played major roles in defining what a team could, would, and should be. Except for Ronald and John, but nevertheless, you guys are just an SMS away. Like I said, this is not goodbye. We’ll see each other after shifts, on breaks, lunches, birthdays, TRIP outings, hallways, et cetera. (Please do not forget us even if you guys are now call center agents and are earning more than the whole team’s earnings combined and hanging out at UCC and trips to Emba or Jaipur...Nyahahaha) Again, thank you so much, friends.

We’ll always be OFFLINE CAPTIONING TEAM!

Starbucks Christmas Traditions: Complete

Hooray! I finally filled my Starbucks Christmas Traditions 2007 Planner promo. Took me a month and few days and ridiculous amount of pesos to complete those much-coveted coffee cup stickers. As I explained through my related blog, Christmas Blends, Starbucks will be giving out planners upon completion of their promo cards. This year though, Starbucks made it easier for everyone to achieve their promos. Since they are celebrating their 10th year anniversary, they decided to give two, yes, two stickers for every purchase of a drink. The catch is, there are specific times for this wonderful promo. So until December 25, between 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, for every purchase of a Christmas Blend coffee or Classic Blend coffee, you will get two stickers for your card. Now, isn’t that just like Christmas everyday for coffee-lovers out there?

Anyway, I plan to redeem my planner soon, hopefully, in Alabang Town Center, as I claimed my last year’s there. And hopefully, this time around, I get to use my planner on a daily, if not, constant basis.

A Merry Christmas to all…

Now that that’s out of the way, Bes and Talla, tag, tag, tag! Mwahahahaha.

Zzzzzzzzz

I think I broke my own record for longest sleep ever: 14 to 15 hours straight. With the help of my beloved Tylenol PM and because of the trials of the past week, I really needed that. Now, I’m waiting for the headache to kick in and preparing for being fully awake later. Because I did a “sleeping beauty” routine, I missed 3/4s of a glorious Sunday that could’ve been brunch in High Street or go with my cousins to the mall. But that’s okay, sleep is better. When I woke up, I immediately went online to check for updates and new chismis posted. Hehehe, two pages of new replies and posts and blogs about how my friends feel about the week that was. My friend, Kads’, Blogspot site was suspended as it was reported that his account is a spam blog, meaning his site was flooded with links and that’s clear abuse of tools and services Blogger offers. Well, that sucks. Us two were really serious about our blog posting and it became a habit for us to try to update them everyday. I know he’s more into it than I am as he posts something new daily. I hope he gets his site back. Another thing worth mentioning is that I am supposed to be in Honee’s place this very moment with my team, enjoying Laguna and leaving behind the tension of our company’s crisis. But, as faith would have it, we canceled our scheduled trip because our beloved bosses in the states disapproved our proposed schedule changes. Even more disappointing is that the Sunday team was requested to go on VTO as there will be no use for them there. Sheesh. We could’ve been enjoying grilled barbecue and liempo right now and binge drinking till the sun comes up. No, instead I slept for more than half a day. Shaking and light headed because I forgot that I slept for that many hours and I haven’t eaten anything. Oh, well. There’s still next time. What happens in the weeks to come will surely be interesting and at the same time terrifying for some of us. Hang on.

VTO III: TimeZone..Still

Yet another VTO for me and my teammates. This is really becoming a habit and it’s bad for our pockets. These guys never learn. I have already beaten them so badly the last time around and still their persistency and pride prevails. When will you guys get it into your heads that my skills are far more superior than yours combined. Hahaha. It’s not even fair that I play with you as the end result, as expected, goes in my favor. Now, Mackoie, you know how it feels to lose lots and lots of your pride with the beating that handed you this afternoon. Mwahahaha. You could try and try and try but chances are you’ll go home empty-handed, crying, explaining to the Mrs. why you lost a couple hundred bucks. It just goes to show that I need to play in the next company Olympics so that I we can acquire some winnings. In all seriousness, we make sure that times are good and moments are enjoyable after every VTO. Making the most out of the time we have left together. Sniff! Harhar. Here we are at TimeZone Glorietta. Erik and Monette are missing in action today as they are both on leave. You guys missed a great game. And we made this game more interesting with a bet that really got us motivated to give it our best. Of course I won so I get to “take home” the prize. What’s the prize? We’re not at liberty to tell. But if ever that fictional prize comes true, oh my gawd, I swear, I’ll be really, really good, just let me take home that prize! Wahahaha. Onto the next VTO!

Tis' The Season To Be Jolly...Not!!!

No fancy headings and no flowery intros. Our account is offering ATPs to its agents. If you’re one of us, ATP is a better word for laying off people. For the past few weeks, no, past few months, our account has been faced with a big time crisis: we are no longer gaining revenues, at least, enough for the account to sustain itself and its agents. Lots of options were tried by the management: rigodon for its supervisors, promotion for some people, offered agents to for this and that new LOB, new LOBs to amp up our sales, even commending people for small accomplishments, and more recently, VTOs for everyone. But obviously, it didn’t work. This morning, I was an hour and 37 minutes late, no surprise there. But what welcomed me is an e-mail stating that our program director will meet us at a certain time with a “shocking” news for everyone. A friend told me that there’s another rigodon of supervisors and Erik will be transferring to another and Ru will be back again at Offline’s helm. I thought the surprised ended there. Far from it. The “earth-shattering” news was that ATP is now an option for all of us agents. Since the account is no longer getting the income it needs to maintain its operations, and more importantly, to pay its agents, they will have to let go of some people. Take note: this is not dissolution. Our account will be operational and running but they will have to let go of some people. Some, not everyone. ATP basically states that we have the option to transfer to another account within the company. The sucky thing about it is, it will probably be voice-related. I know that we all applied for this job because we don’t want to talk to whining foreigners about their problems. But as it is the only available option for people who wants to stay in the company, well, the alternative is rather depressing.

I know that we all have mixed emotions about this. Some are happy, most are emotional on the matter. But it is not the end as the news may seem to be. For sure, we will be losing some individuals, but you never know what might happen in the coming days. Human Resources will meet us on Thursday to discuss to us the matters about ATP and other concerns that we have.

Team, the whole thing shouldn’t have come as a surprise for us. I’m sure somewhere deep inside, we already knew that this was the direction we were heading. Yet, somehow, after learning of what was to become of Offline, one can’t help but feel sad. We’re not just losing our job, security, and earnings; we’re also losing some of the best people we consider friends. I’ll save the drama after Thursday. Let’s not forget, we’ll still be receiving our 13th month and I hope that we all participate in the Year-End Party as this may be our last one. Hehehe. Anyway, for days to come, please stop singing “Farewell” and “If We Hold On.” Tsk!

A "Happy Endings..." Original

Destination: Divisoria

As I am writing this blog, my feet and legs are literally numb and I’m about to collapse from tiredness. But I just hafta write my very fun experience today before it leaves me. Like I said from my previous entry last night, today we embarked on a journey to Divisoria. I was really excited with this trip because it's always a different and unique experience for me every time I go to Divi. You see, I kinda grew up near Divi but was always isolated from the “real” Manila environment. It was only last year, I think, that I went back to Divisoria after perhaps a decade. Iya used to bring me there to buy toys and stuff and other useful things. But as I grew older, I was exposed more to the city and mall life that Divi was just another place that I was never interested with. Last year though, while I was still hitched, we frequented the place and I found it very exhilarating every time I see goodies that are affordable and cute. Perfect timing also as Christmas is just three weeks away and Divi is the perfect place to buy presents for people. Just try to not mind the hundreds and hundreds of people you will encounter while exploring Divisoria.

Divisoria is the mecca of all marketplaces and stores. It is in here that you will find anything that you are looking for, for a price that will definitely make your pockets and wallets smile. Imagine buying wholesale items of kitchenware or clothes for less than P20 a piece. Now that’s bargain. Divi is also the home of brand imitations and bootleg copies of anything. When in Divi, it is important and vital to know how to haggle. It’s the most important thing to do when transacting and purchasing stuff.

This afternoon, I met up with Monette at the office and we went to Divi as she will be buying stuff for her son’s 4th birthday on Wednesday. We rode PVP Liner to Lawton and took a Divi jeep from there. Our first stop: 168 Mall. This mall became famous last year with its super cheap prices on any and every item it offers. It is in here that we got those fancy bracelet favors that bends when you strike it into your wrist for P17 each; toy laser fingers that you wear like a glove and makes your fingers glow for P20 each (cool); Lego toys in small boxes for P15 each (cool). Afterwards, we headed to the New Divisoria Mall where most of the food items and more cool stuff are being sold. Monette bought the party bags there at P6.50 each (a bargain); then we went to the basement where I finally tapped out from the narrowness of the shopways and the heat. But of course, can’t let Monette show that I am a wuss, so just carry on. Down the mall's basement, we got candies for more than half the price from its grocery store costs. So she bought a box of lollipop fizzies for P120 with 40 lollipops inside. Then, back to 168 to look for a Megatron figure as this is what her son likes to be his cake décor. Not one Megatron in site and Optimus Prime look somewhat gay. Of course, these are all imitations so I never expected it to be that awesome. We’re after the price here, not how genuine the items are. We met up with Mackoie at the food court and decided to browse at the fashion stores. We were looking for something to wear for the Year-End Party, and we definitely got ideas (so excited).

Surprisingly, I got myself something and bought things for people. These will probably be my Christmas present to my teammates, at least, until my mind changes. Hehehe. I also got the first and second season “How I Met Your Mother” DVD. Monette needed to pass by her mom’s house at Retiro but not until she run some errands at SM San Lazaro. So I went with her and decided to meet up with dad. Well, that’s where my fantastic day ended. This entry looks hurried up because it honestly is. I might make edits or changes or just wait till my next trip to Divi and write a better experience blog for it. It’s just that all my muscles are literally screaming and wanting a rest. I am so tired from all the walking and haggling. Next time, I’ll be prepared. I’ll buy more chopping boards, three for P25. Hahaha.

First Entry for December

Big Brother’s Burger + Krispy Kreme Dark Chocolate and Original Glazed Donuts + Seattle’s Best Coffee Chocolate Chip Cookies + Grande Toffee Nut Latte = Pure Timmy Happiness!!!

First entry for December…After a sucky weekend last week, I am very satisfied with this one. Basically, I went mall-hopping going with relatives with their gown hunts for weddings and proms, as I planned to go on my Christmas shopping. But the classic me yet again prevailed and I just wandered around the malls zombie-like yawning and looking for plush seats. Didn’t get anything for anyone nor for myself. Only three weeks left before Christmas and by now, I should have at least have a list and ideas. But lately, I am so lazy and sluggish that I forgot how I love walking. I hafta know the reason for this indolence and
put a stop to it. Well, not completely (hehehe) just lessen it.

SM Mega Mall, Robinson’s Galleria, and Bonifacio High Street felt my presence today as these are the commercial centers we visited. Nothing out of the ordinary from them or I’m just really, really lazy every Sunday. But at least I got to go out with my family. Highlight of the day is dinner at High Street. They wanted light eating so sandwiches are the obvious choice. That’s where my equation above comes in. A trip to High Street wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Krispy Kreme’s store. Added bonus, Hershey’s Dark Chocolate flavor is yet again available so I got really excited. And of course, for drinks, and just because it’s a Sunday, Toffee Nut Latte to complete the equation, and the night!

Tomorrow, we’ll be going to Divisoria. Obviously, very different from High Street, complete opposite even. It’ll offer a different kind of shopping experience I guarantee. Hope to at least accomplish something tomorrow and buy something for the Holidays and even myself. That’s it. Just wanna share my thoughts for today.

My MaxiCare and a Hot Nurse!

I now have the go signal to dance out in the streets while raining, hug people with colds and flu, eat all the unhealthy food known to man…worry-free! Reason: my company “finally” released my MaxiCare Platinum Health Card. I have been with my current job for a year and quarter now and just imagine my surprise when I got an e-mail from our company nurse that my card is ready for claiming.

To: Timothy Relucio
Cc: PS Nurses
Subject: PPE FTE MAXICARE CARD

Hi,

Please be informed that the result of your Pre-Employment Medical Examination shows NORMAL FINDINGS.

Kindly claim your Maxicare Card here in PSC clinic G/F.

Mondays to Fridays: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (c/o Maxicare Representative)
Saturdays & Sundays: - anytime - (c/o Nurse on Duty)

Thank You!

Jaja P. Pejero, R.N. Company Nurse

Now I can reap my medical and dental benefits finally! Can’t say that enough, “Finally!” An added bonus, our company nurse is really, really hot! Hehehe. You’ll probably choose to be sick so just she could take care of you. “Hi Nurse, my heart’s feeling funny, kind of beating too fast. I think it’s because of you!” Exactly what we wanted to do and say when I claimed my card. I was, like, “Uhhhh…I’m here to claim my card. Duhhhhh!” Anyway, I’m happy that I finally got my card. Just in time too, because the way our work is going, chances are, I won’t be having benefits for long. That’s fine. I’m just happy to have been given my MaxiCare card.

Granny Goose's Brew Bud

Introducing the new “Granny Goose Brew Bud Wheat-based Snacks.” The answer to those “What’s for pulutan?” questions. If I’m not mistaken, this is the first attempt of Granny Goose to target the drinking market. And may I say, they’ve succeeded on their initial stab. Though they’re primarily for “pulutan” purposes, it’s sufficient to say that the whole family will enjoy this treat and is a great addition to everyday snack time and pica-pica. It comes in four different flavors: Pork Sisig, Grilled Pork, Grilled Hungarian Sausage, and Salt & Vinegar Chicharon (Pork Rinds). Just from the flavors of this snack, it is obvious that they will be the perfect partner for drinking sessions. By far, I say that Pork Sisig is the best of them. Gots to give props to the packaging of this new treat as Mom helped in conceptualizing and designing their finished product. A bit confusing though on whether the contents are actually Chicharon or chips because of this uber large pictures of flavors. But it’s all good. Yesterday, Granny Goose organized a soft launch for Brew Bud in leading convenience stores nationwide. Chances are, they’re already available to the public. So, what are you waiting for? Grab them bottles and cases, bring out the glasses and lots of ice, take out leftovers from your ref, and grab all the flavors of Brew Bud…Nom-i na!!

Thanksgiving, VTO, Gulaman, Long Weekend

Gulamans, freeing people, Carl Mobile, Chicken Bacolod, passing by JAKA, eating at Dampa, iced latte…some of the highlights of this magnificent day. One of those great days, especially in our industry, as this is the first time that they let us go home on work days. Thanks to Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. of A., we don’t have anything to work on nor any work coming in for the whole span of their beloved holiday. Yay! Day started off great, I wasn’t late and was really early, only to find out that we don’t have anything to do for the whole day as there aren’t any people in our Burbank office. Whoop! The management decided made its best decision by far ever since forever: Send us home! We were given two options. One, file for half day paid time off so we’ll still be earning even if we ain’t workin’, or, render half day VTO (which I really don’t know what “V” stands for) simply the opposite of the first one, unpaid time off. Since I only have three leave credits left, the latter is the obvious choice. So TM called a meeting for the team and personally apologized for making us come to work knowing that there wouldn’t be any production for the day. He was thankful though for our commitment to go to work even if there’s this Mina super storm expected to arrive tonight anytime. He sounded sincere, I guess. But hey, a Sausage McMuffin and Toffee Nut Latte would’ve made me a true believer (and maybe reimbursement of my travel expenses incurred this morning). I do agree with him on his statement: “Look at it this way, minsan lang mangyari to sa ganitong industry. Sana matuwa kayo.” Right? Right? He’s so right on that one! In the outsourcing business, not having to report to work for more than two days is a luxury. This is the reason I’m so psyched with this day.

The moment we found out that they’re gonna set us free, we planned here and planned there on what we’re gonna do after work. Our consensus: SM Mall of Asia since Manong have never been there (tsk tsk!). Excited and all, at 12:00 AM, we logged out ourselves and got ready for an afternoon of malling and possibly, food tripping. A Spark conversation shattered Manong’s dream of Mall of Asia. “Anong ‘bye?’ Walang uuwing supervisors!” Poor Manong. So we decided to take our lunch at Glorietta instead so the poor supervisor could go back to the office. Hitchin’ a ride at the “Carl Mobile” we set off to Glorietta and chose Chicken Bacolod Inasal as our resto. I finally bought Monette her long due "Gulaman." Hahaha. Pictures below were taken while we’re eating. As always, props for Carl for his camera! Yay! Anyway Manong (still glum and blue) left after eating and we strolled around to kill time with no destination whatsoever. Carl went to get his haircut and O, Archee, Monette, and moi just hanged more and went our separate ways as O found out that there’s a new Krispy Kreme store in MOA and Archee suspiciously went to surprise his wife. Hehehe. Claude and I decided to go back the office for Manong but I passed by JAKA first to claim some things I left there two months ago. Gawd, I missed that place, still does! Surprisingly, Archee left our locker key there in our keyboard tray and two months passed by and it’s still where we left it. So got our things and headed to comfort the depressed Manong. From there, the usual going home rituals and bidding goodbyes.

Met up with Mom and we ate at Seafood! Seafood! Market!, a “dampa”-styled restaurant beside Oakwood. Team, it’s open again and for sure, we’ll be having our next TRIP there. I’m excited. Food: great! Ambience: Christmas-sy! Price: TRIP worthy!

Truly and awesome day and worth telling about. And, Manong just SMS’ed, “No classes, I mean, no work tomorrow…Happy Weekend!!” It’s like early Christmas for my team. Only drawback to this whole experience: this could’ve been the bestest ever if the whole team were present today. We could’ve went anywhere, or better yet, we could be, right now, on our way to some out-of-town location! Waaaahhh…Oh, well! Hopefully, there’ll be another opportunity like this one! Happy Weekend!

"Rock and Rowl"

Really, really, really cool video of that Red Horse Beer commercial. It was a sort of tribute for Pinoy Rock so the "cast" of this ad are supposed to be Pinoy Rock "Legends" (obviously). The main man, who coined the infamous Pinoy "Rock and Rowl," Pepe Smith heads the rockers. Ely Buendia, Karl Roy, Basti Artadi, Reg Rubio, and Marc Abaya completes the cast. Some say though that some of the "Legends" are not Legend enough and not really worthy of being given the title of "Pinoy Rock God." Let's not reiterate who those characters are. Let's not ruin the awesomeness of this ad..."Rock and Rowl" kids! Yeah! \m/,

Where Are My TV Shows?

War in Iraq, global warming, wildfires, bombing of local Congress, a new improvement plan, surf control on most websites…these are just few problems that we are dealing with nowadays. And the one that I am most affected and disturbed by: cancellation of fall shows and episodes due to the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike.

Last night, as I was browsing for information about upcoming episodes of shows that I follow and watch, I was exasperated to find out that “Prison Break” will return next year, January 14th, and the episode last week was its “mid-season finale,” at least until the season continues next year. “Heroes” were also affected as its current season, “Volume II,” will have its season finale on December 3, 2007, and will feature only 11 episodes against the usual 22-episode format per season, due to the fact of the Writer’s strike and drop down in ratings for its first five episodes. Last on my list is “Gossip Girl” where its next two episodes will be shown November 27, 2007 as a 2-hour special and might serve as its season finale for this year. Latest season shows such as “One Tree Hill” supposed to premiere its fifth season on January 8, 2008 will only have 12 out of its 22 episodes completed for their latest season. “Lost” seems to be unaffected as its scripts have been completed before the strike and will premiere its fourth season by February next year. Anyway, for complete lists and information about the effect of the strike to our favorite television shows, click here. All of these semi-cancellations and automatic reruns are caused by the Writers Guild of America strike against Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, an organization of Hollywood TV producers.

I won’t explain the whole thing as I myself don’t understand it. Just click the 2007 Writers Guild of America Strike for full information about what the hell is going on in the Western entertainment world. So, why we are suffering from deprivation of our weekly dose of Hollywood TV shows? Simple, writers know that they’re not getting what they truly deserve from their show producers. A lot of the shows’ stars and cast members supported this strike to the extent that some of them marched with writers and refusing to cross picket lines. The last strike with this kind of magnitude dated back in 1988 where it lasted for 22 weeks and Hollywood suffered losses amounting to 500 million dollars.
Now, since I don’t have any idea as to which side I should support, as I am on the other side of the world, just waiting for my shows, I cannot really make out any conclusion on their dilemma. I don’t know. Give the writers the credit they deserve? Cut some slack for the producers? I don’t care. I just want my shows back! In the end, the losing side is the viewers and audiences. After all, all we wanted to see is if Scofield escapes yet again, the Heroes meet up again to save the world from another Armageddon, Dan and Serena will last, Blair ends up with Chuck, what happens to the Tree Hill Ravens after four years, will the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 know exactly where they are, the lives of newly established doctors of Seattle Grace Hospital, and so much more. Now, is that too much to ask for?

Hanging Out With Married People

Suburban houses, white picket fences, a Volvo or wagon, a retriever, Sunday brunches with homeowners association are just few of the things that I’m not afraid of but don’t want to have and experience just yet, maybe never. Well, at least that’s my point of view at the moment. Lately, I’ve been having these realizations that I’m slowly growing old. The people I hang out with are married and have kids. And when I’m with my college buddies, all they talk about is work and career plans! The last time I was with them, we celebrated the first birthday of our friend's daughter, which is also our "inaanak." That spells as being old and an adult, right? I’ve been hanging out with married people for some time now; they’re colleagues-slash-friends. Most of them have not yet reached that typical marrying age of 28-30 (at least that’s what the movies say). Hanging out with married people spells awkwardness for most single kids and young adults, but not for me. They just married young, so what? We don’t have the right to judge their decision, whether they’re happy with it or not. Mom raised me most of the time by herself and we never really have and problems with that situation. But during lunches, when they talk about family, bills, and marital problems, I can’t help but wonder, “Is this good for a kid like me?” Yes, kid. Duh, I’m 21 and single. Hearing all these rants and problems about the being-attached life is kinda scary for me. Their kids have just started going to school and the cost of education nowadays are rather ridiculous, yet it’s a necessity. Then again, when you see the look on their faces when their kids achieve something or topped the class or receive perfect marks and awards...are truly priceless (not to the point of envy…oh, please no!).

Being a parent must be really rewarding especially when your kids love you back the way you love them. Well, that’s what I hear and learn anyways. We’re five in our lunch group and I’m the only one unattached. Surely, I’ll be hearing my fair share of the married life. Sometimes they’re envious of me. I have my earnings for myself. I control my own time and go to wherever I want to. Date and reap benefits (which I ain’t doing at the moment). But as always, there’s balance in our situation. I may be able to do anything I want, but they do things with someone, a loved one. Envious?

Again, hell no!At this very moment, I’m not the marrying type (for reasons that I will not disclose as they may affect my future in dating...Hehehe). Keywords: “At this moment.” It might change. And I guarantee it will. I even started thinking on who I will choose as my entourage and sponsors, what that day will look like, color motifs I will use, music to be played…only the character of the bride’s hazy and blurry. But I have an idea on who will be next to me in front of the altar. For now, in my dreams, Georgina Wilson will play the part of the bride. When the day comes that I tie the knot with someone, that someone is the ONE. I don’t think I will make that mistake of marrying someone for all the wrong reasons. Someday I’ll be settling down with that girl who made me realize that being-attached is not such a bad deal after all. But for now, I love being able to do things my way and not hurting anyone in the process. Probably when I turn 28, and my “Great Masterplan” goes according to, well, as planned…

Interestingly Awesome Afternoon

“Interestingly” yet fun afternoon. Singleness sometimes gets the best of me and I’m sure it’s normal to feel attraction to several individuals. Here’s what I got so far.
“Interesting” because this afternoon, well, it was really one of those surreal moments. Four different characters but all lovely just the same. People who know me may get what these images mean. Hehehe. They're so obvious...

Grams Diner

Cheeseburgers and bacon, and French fries with toppings, omelet and pancakes, and roast beef with gravy…these are a few of my favorite things! Tim went over to the Western side of life and found himself in a great American dining experience…at Grams Diner. You may not find waitresses in roller skates serving food in Grams Diner, but what you’ll get is good American food that is worth your hard-earned bread. This is actually my second time in Grams’ but since I was too lazy last year, it is only now that I have the motivation and means for reviewing it.

Grams Diner serves American-style food in an American-themed diner. Inside, you will find memorabilia such as classic movie posters of the Golden Age of Cinema. Gable and Leigh, the Rat Pack, Dean and Jerry, Brando in his famous white shirt shot, James in his ever popular motorcycle, the King in his signature strut, Marilyn’s appeal seductive as ever…and the likes. It’s a diner so expect a throwback to the 20’s to 60’s era. Even the interior is vintage-y with its red sparkly round stools at the bar and the utensils are kinda authentic. Truly, you’ll get a sense of nostalgia from just sitting there and having coffee.

The menu consists mostly of breakfast items with regular favorites such as pancakes, omelets, steak and eggs, breakfast sampler, and more. Mom opted to try out the Patriotic Bowls (P163.00), their own version of our “silogs,” with beef tapa, eggs, and fried rice served in a bowl. We wanted to try out the Never Empty Home Brew (P51.00), basically their brewed coffee but refillable. Yes, it’s refillable. It’s like music to my ears. But since we were having brunch and mom can’t take coffee unless its decaf, she decided to go for their hot chocolate (P40.00) instead. I chose their Fish Fritter set menu (P230.00). It includes fish fillet as main dish, sidings may be rice or fries or mashed potatoes, salad or soup, iced tea for drinks, and an added special, an after meal choice of hot coffee or hot tea. Now, that’s literally Breakfast of Champions. Mental note: eat at Grams when you are positively hungry. P230 may seem costly to many but the servings are probably good for two (except for Bedans, though).

Gots to give props to the service as they really know how to take care of their diners. Our waiter explained every detail I wanted to hear and yet too lethargic to ask. He even offered to take our picture when we were about to pay. Probably because he noticed me taking pictures of everything inside and outside of the diner. Kinda embarrassing, but hey, all worth it.

What Timee loved: The diner itself, its sense of nostalgia, the food was awesome and worth it, I feel like Jughead.

What Timee resents: Diners are not supposed to be located beside seashores.

Papers with dead presidents to spare: Around P100 to P300. You’ll be wanting to let your friends take you home because the food is really filling.

Grams Diner, yet again, is included in “Timee-recommends” list. I have always wished and wondered what its like to live in the 50’s era. I always enjoyed stories from my Iya when she talks about their life in those years. Can’t really say that Grams made it come true, but at least, I got that feeling of classicness, and I went home happy and filled.

Grams Diner is located at North Wing, Entertainment Mall, Seaside Boulevard, SM Mall of Asia
